MÖTLEY CRÜE's NIKKI SIXX Pays Tribute To WARWICK Bass
November 22, 2002MÖTLEY CRÜE/BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION bassist Nikki Sixx has posted the following message in the "Rock'n'Roll Diary" section of CRÜE's official web site:
"I have been playing Gibson Thunderbirds forever. I love them, always have, always will. When I worked with Specter in the 80's, we designed the body along the lines of the T bird (reverse and non-reverse). The shape has always felt so comfortable to me. The other main stay in my life musically has been Ampeg. The SVT and me go way back and is a huge part of my sound. I've been able to play whatever I want, and luckily buy whatever I need for many years, so there's a reason I keep with what works. I love it.
"Well, I recently meet up with Warwick. They had me try out there amps first. Of course, I was skeptical, but after a few weeks in rehearsal, I found it hard to return their gear. I'm really blown away by the tone and power of their equipment. Next up came their five-string bass… Holy fuck… It's like playing butter……with a sledgehammer backing it. The low string adds so much to the BRIDES sound. They have a new bass coming called the Vampire that's fucking bad-ass. There's been talk of making me a T bird shape in a five-string..and an iron cross bass as well.
"I know a lot of you guys play…check this company out. www.warwickbass.com.
"My arsenal of weapons just got meaner… 4 strings, 5 strings, 8 strings, and 12 strings…"
